Smoked Alder or Hickory Vanilla Rub

Hickory Vanilla Rub-onion, garlic, tomato flakes, mixed bell pepper, hickory salt, lemon, ginger, parsley, lime pepper, vanilla, nutmeg, and habanero.

Beef, bbq sauces, savory breads, chicken, greens, meatloaf (pork and beef), onions, pork, salmon, seafood, shellfish, spinach, tomatoes, and turkey.

Beef, bbq sauces, black beans, savory breads, carrots, chicken, duck, greens, lamb, meatloaf (lamb, pork, and beef), onions, pork, potatoes, salad dressings, salmon, sausages, seafood, shellfish, spinach, squash-summer & winter, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and turkey. 

 

 

Hickory Vanilla Recipes

Hickory Salad Dressing

2 pureed tomatoes

1 T. rice vinegar

2 T. water

1 T. sour cream

1 T. Hickory Vanilla Rub

Stir together and let flavors mingle for 20 minutes before serving. 

Good on lettuce, spinach, and potato salads.

Hickory Vanilla Marinade

1/2 cup olive oil or vegetable oil

1/4 c. soy sauce

1/2 cup chopped green onion

2 c. chicken stock or pork stock

2 T. Hickory Vanilla Rub

2 lb. Pork, Chicken, Turkey, or Beef

Place all ingredients in a large plastic bag, thoroughly coating the meat.  Marinate for 24 hours.  Turn the meat over in bag after  12 hours.

Herbed Hickory Batter

1 c. flour

1/2 c. room temperature water

1 T. sesame oil

1 T. Hickory Vanilla rub

1/2 c. chopped fresh parsley

-Whip together ingredients.  You may need more water depending on how thick you want the batter to be.  Prior to frying dip tuna, vegetables, etc., into flour.  Then dip into batter, and immediately drop into vegetable frying liquid.   Fry for 5-8 minutes on high heat.  Excellent with fried mushrooms, zucchini, and onions.

Smoked Alder Meat Rub

Smoked alder salts are very aromatic and remind me of smoked salmon or fish.  This meat rub is excellent on all meat or fish but is also good with stews containing tomatoes or greens. 

Rub 1 T. of the Smoked Alder into beef, pork, or salmon before grilling.

Hickory Vanilla Rub

This spice was made for some customers who love to barbeque but wanted something new and different.  Vanilla is excellent in pork marinades.
